The Language
|
I read over a lot
blogs each week, casually surfing one or two
blog exchanges I belong.
I realized yesterday
I seldom read
whole entry unless it's very short. Many are quite uncomfortable
read, some downright excruciating,
terms
their grammatical skills, spelling,
style. Because
such an immediate
off-the-cuff personal expression, do
standard language rules apply?
The conversational nature
a blog leads naturally
an informal, casual approach
can be refreshing
innovative, indirectly echoing some
great writers
past who used dialect
local expressions
vitalize their work.
It
unfortunate
so many who write don't understand basic language rules so cannot effectively break them. When
takes major time
effort
understand what
earth
writer
trying
say, rather than being able
appreciate
content
point
view being expressed,
becomes merely an exercise
frustration.
The beauty,
ultimate value
blogging,
communication
direct, individual,
uncensored. No editor with an eye
public opinion or potential legal consequences
cutting out whole paragraphs
fear they will offend. There
no filter applied by conservative management or
need
committee consensus prior
publication.
However, those
us who publish our thoughts
opinions
world do have one big responsibility:
our readers. We can, happily, say anything we want but need
clearly communicate our point
view.
Anything less demeans
value
this wonderful new medium
leads
millions
electronic pages
fail
unite us
community,
our goal, but merely consumes virtual space like
incoherent ramblings
a lonely psychotic.
