Brief History Blogs

So where did all these blogs come from? How did they get from an underground geek toy a mainstream tool that has revolutionized politics, journalism, marketing media?

I always find that when I learn about a new technology or way doing something online, geeks have already been there (and I say word 'geek' with complete affection - I'm one too!). Before business became inseparable from computer, email or internet, academics tinkerers were there first, kicking tires playing with technology. Blogging was no exception.

Many earliest internet geeks wrote online journals detailing interesting links points view. As this was before programs like FrontPage Dreamweaver, everything was done by hand - that was a huge hassle. Each time you updated site, you ran risk breaking links inside website leaving your readers stranded with dreaded 'page not found' error. Eventually, computer programmers web designers became fed up with all this manual work created their own software automate process updating their journal websites. Thus weblog was born.

In 1999, a website called Blogger (http://www.blogger.com/) launched, offering free blogs anybody everybody that wanted them. Blogger provided blog tool free well hosting space host a blog. Millions people from all over world logged start creating their own weblogs.

The largest conversation world had begun. Blogs have changed way academics do research, journalists write, families connect politicians fundraise. It was only a matter time before businesses woke up realized power blogging marketing online.

Blogging provides a way companies customers meet common ground talk about what excites them makes them tick. It also allows them closely track where under what circumstances their products are being talked about online.

Today, blogging continues grow at a swift pace with more than 400,000 posts added per day 12,000 new blogs being created every day. Millions people look blogs a good laugh, a great idea, a fantastic tip or an instant analysis. The blogosphere doubles size every 5 months, allowing anyone, anywhere, any language, make their mark world share their ideas, passion products.

'Blog' was word year 2004 according Merriam-Webster, famous dictionary publisher. The year 2004 marked a turning point blogs a sought after media format. Now was seen a venue gathering large audiences devoted readers who used blogs supplement, compliment fact-check their nightly news.

My favorite milestone blogging was when 'Blogs' appeared a category Jeopardy game show. I'll take blogging one thousand, Alex!
